Suction Cups for Lifting and Placing Boards
Suction Cups for Lifting and Placing Boards

Many marble workers suffer injuries due to the excessive force required to lift heavy materials such as granite countertops, marble, composite, etc. To avoid these problems, the use of suction cups is recommended and provides great assistance. In addition to benefiting our health and preventing injuries, it provides greater safety in transporting the piece.

Suction cups are used to facilitate the handling, transportation, and placement of heavy countertops made of various materials. There is a wide variety of models available, depending on their function and where they will be used.

MANUAL AND PNEUMATIC

In both cases, the adherence to the surface is quite similar. It is pressed against the piece, and the mechanism that creates a vacuum is activated, at which point it becomes attached to the surface and facilitates its handling.

For direct transportation and placement of the countertop, there are two types: manual (manual vacuum actionand automatic, which ensure constant grip through a small pump. Their ability to adapt to the measurements of the piece, their handling in confined spaces, and the quick-release valves make the removal of the product easy and fast, thus avoiding damage during the transfer process.

Manual suction cups represent a great innovation in the installation, placement, and fixing of countertops at angles, in very specific spaces, and the joining of joints that were previously impossible to overcome due to the lack of tools.

In the case of pneumatic suction cups, their use is intended for factories and workshops that need to transport a board for storage or handling. To perform this action, there are suction cups that create the venturi effect through compressed (pneumatic) air produced by an electric pump, which can be supplied in two versions: automatic tipping (via a pneumatic piston) or manual tipping.

Their structure is more complex, as they consist of a metal frame equipped with a fixed or adjustable suspension clamp, at the end of which the ring is attached to be hooked onto a crane. The attachment and release of the sheets are carried out by operating a vacuum release device.

HOW TO USE THE SUCTION CUPS:

  • Place the suction cup on the crane and on the guide (in the case of pneumatic suction cups), using the pistons to adjust the suction cups to the required size.
  • Place the suction cup on the piece you are going to handle. Press it against the countertop or board and activate the mechanism that creates the vacuum, always ensuring that it is securely attached.
  • Double-check that the piece is well adhered to the suction cup and proceed to position it horizontally.
  • Carefully move the boards to the destination.

In this video, you can see how the Sink Hole Saver Manual suction cup is used to transport and place a countertop from the moment it leaves the workshop until it is installed in the kitchen, without causing any damage to the piece and making transportation more convenient. Take a look!

SAFETY CONDITIONS:

It is important to consider the following safety points to avoid any accidents or serious damage to the material.

The suction cup can only be used on intact, non-porous materials with a smooth, self-supporting surface that is sufficiently resistant to the pressure exerted during lifting, with appropriate dimensions and consistency (the surface area of the sheet to be lifted must be greater than the supporting surface area of the relative suction plates).

Remove any protective films before lifting the material to prevent the load from falling.

After slowly lifting the load to a height of 20-25 cm, check the centrality and effectiveness of the grip of all the operating plates before continuing with the manipulation.

Do not lift the board to excessive heights.

Never place the suction cup on surfaces that contain acids, solvents, or products that could damage the joints.

WHY CHOOSE SUCTION CUPS WITH DIFFERENT MECHANISMS OR SYSTEMS?

At Maser, we have a wide variety of manual and pneumatic suction cups, adapted to the size and weight of the material to be lifted, as well as the location where the work will be performed. They aim to meet the needs of our customers. Our extensive range, including the latest industry innovations, is available in our online store, where you will also find videos and technical data sheets for each suction cup, which will help you understand their use.
